Do not pet! Gosselin helps move two brown bears via airtransport

When two bears needed to be moved to Natur-und Tierpark Goldau to become part of the European Endangered Species Program (EEP), Gosselin Georgia worked closely with its partners to ensure their safe travels. The project started in December 2023 and was concluded on November 6th 2024.

“It takes good planning and preparation when it comes to relocating two Syrian Brown Bears internationally! We worked together with the Tbilisi Zoo to ensure that the right documentation was available and that crates complied with IATA Live Animal Regulations. Together with our local partner Gosselin Group in Georgia, we coordinated the flights with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul to Zurich”, says Marcel Brozius from Moving Animals.

Maia Pertaia, Move Manager from Gosselin Georgia, confirms. “Every time we’re asked to transport animals, it’s always extra stressful because you want to ensure that they get the best care possible. Moving domestic pets is already more complicated than moving household goods. But especially with big animals like these bears, there’s additional documents required, different transport requirements, special crating, and so on.”

What is often referred to as ‘the project of the year’ came to a successful conclusion with both bears happily exploring their new habitats. “I want to express my gratitude to all parties involved – The Tbilisi Zoo, Marcel from Moving Animals – for this great opportunity to participate in such a special project. And a big shoutout to Turkish Airlines for the solid communication and updates about the bears when they were at the transit station for almost 24hrs,” concludes Maia.

About the bears
