Experiment international relocation transport on rails rolls on

A month ago, Gosselin began testing a new multimodal solution for its international relocation shipments. In the meantime, the experiment has been successful and work is underway on a regular Antwerp-Spain route via train transport.

The experiment took place via loads transported from Antwerp to Spain by train. "Transportation by rail has a lower cost and CO2 emissions," explains Gert van Engelenburg, European Traffic & Supplier Manager. "Moreover, this way we don't have to send our movers on the road for days on end." Despite the logistical complexity, the experiment was more than successful and Gosselin is looking at a permanent route with its partner.

"Starting in May, there will be a constant flow of containers going by rail to Spain," Gert said. Currently, Gosselin is also experimenting with rail shipments to Italy and Scandinavia. What is important is that the partners can handle 25-foot containers.
