Moving your pets to and from Italy

Pet moving is a highly specialized service that demands tons of TLC. Moving your pet to and from Italy is not as complicated as it may seem. Sara Piselli joined Gosselin a year ago and tells us more.

Sara is a proud owner of two cats, Rino and Pruppi. “I’m a born planner;  every pet move is an event that needs planning from A to Z. This helps me anticipate any potential problem and tackle it immediately.”

All your import and export documentation

“The main challenge in pet moving is the bureaucracy involved in import and export documentation,” Sara explains. “There are strict deadlines that means that sometimes you only have 24 hours to obtain the relevant certificates without which the pets cannot be moved. On top of that, there are also local regulations that must be taken into account.”

Always stand-by

This is why Sara is on stand-by 24/7 until she receives a video of the pet’s arrival to make sure that everything went well. “Being an animal lover definitely helps me in my job,” Sara adds. “As the owner of two cats I understand how my clients feel, and can give them the certainty and confidence they need. You can trust me to take care of your pet.”

A lovely company to work for

“I look forward to gaining more experience in this growing niche market, together with Sara,” branch manager for Italy Barbara Savelli says. Barbara was happy to be able to task her new colleague with the challenge of further developing the pet move activities.

Sara started working at Gosselin during the Covid-19 pandemic, but despite the lack of face-to-face training or interactions with her colleagues, she feels more like she belongs to a family than a team. “I can count on my colleagues and supervisors 100%,” Sara concludes. While the job can certainly be stressful, it’s the satisfaction of reuniting owners with their beloved pets that has made Sara embrace the job and do her utmost to ensure pets’ comfort in every way.

Pet moving Italy

“When I was working on the move of six dogs to Dubai, the certified vet suddenly didn’t want to proceed with the export certificate. Since this meant the flight would have to be cancelled, I spent all day trying to obtain the necessary documents.”

The truck transporting the dogs from Milan to Frankfurt by road was stopped at the border due to the Covid pandemic. The driver had to go to a doctor to be able to provide border control with a negative test. But the documents Sara had procured earlier are only valid for 24 hours. “It was quite a challenge to get the dogs on the plane in time, especially since I had received the information during the night,” Sara explains. She managed to see all six dogs off at the airport and received a video of their safe arrival several hours later.

Operations Moving

Gosselin Belgium receives FIDI Top Performer status

After the Italian and UK office receiving the FAIM 22 Top Performer status, it was Belgium’s turn for a FIDI audit. With Belgium not only having multiple offices in Deurne and Vilvoorde, but also their own warehouses and rolling stock, the audit was extensive but successful nevertheless.
International work experience

An international work experience

With Gosselin offices all over Europe, it’s almost impossible to know everybody. However, an international working experience can be the perfect way to get acquainted with colleagues from different countries. Roberta and Patrizio from the Italian office did just that, taking the opportunity to network and brainstorm work processes.
Road VS Rail transport

European Logistics goes Multi-modal!

Gosselin currently launched a new trial project combining the usual road transport with train groupage in Europe. It is the perfect combination between handling large volumes, less reloads, less damage risks, and focusing on sustainability at the same time.
