Moving furniture from one boat to another

The assignment: move brand-new furniture from Taiwan onto a big yacht moored in Tuscany without toppling it into the water. Sounds like a job for Gosselin! The owner of the mega yacht, the Vianne, asked the Italian office to handle this move since it was one that required a lot of expertise.

“A full container was shipped from Taiwan, and we only had a few days to remove the old furniture and properly install the new pieces,” Alberto Zambelli, captain of the Vianne explains. A total of over 60 m3 of luxury furniture and other items had to be moved onto a 52-meter yacht. A special customs clearance was required for the new furniture, but luckily Barbara and her team are like fish in the water when it comes to complex procedures like these.

“Projects like this demand highly qualified staff. The scaffolding is unstable and the yacht’s corridors are very narrow,” says Barbara Savelli, branch manager for Italy. In addition to a trustworthy crew, you naturally also need solid equipment. Heavy items are lifted onto the deck of the yacht using a special crane and the hardwood floors must be protected from possible damage.

Handyman service

“I confess I was pretty stressed about this move,” Alberto admits, “but the Gosselin crew was very professional.” The old furniture was packed and removed while the new objects were installed and properly secured by the handyman service. “There’s a lot of vibration on the water and shifting weights can cause the yacht to roll, so all the items were screwed onto the floor. Even decorative pieces like vases or candlesticks were affixed to the furniture using a special marine glue,” Barbara adds.

Italy has a lot of harbors that host yachts from all over the world, so these types of furniture deliveries are rather common, but it’s vital for the moving company to have specialized knowledge about the customs process. “I’m grateful to the whole team and cannot recommend Gosselin highly enough,” the captain concludes.

Gosselin Belgium receives FIDI Top Performer status

After the Italian and UK office receiving the FAIM 22 Top Performer status, it was Belgium’s turn for a FIDI audit. With Belgium not only having multiple offices in Deurne and Vilvoorde, but also their own warehouses and rolling stock, the audit was extensive but successful nevertheless.
International work experience

An international work experience

With Gosselin offices all over Europe, it’s almost impossible to know everybody. However, an international working experience can be the perfect way to get acquainted with colleagues from different countries. Roberta and Patrizio from the Italian office did just that, taking the opportunity to network and brainstorm work processes.
